Gemma2 is a versatile tool used in both machine learning and genetic research. It is part of the PaliGemma family, which includes powerful Vision-Language Models (VLMs) built on open components like the SigLIP vision model and the Gemma language model. In genetics, Gemma2 implements the Genome-wide Efficient Mixed-Model Association (GEMMA) for genome-wide association studies (GWAS) . It is also recognized in the open-source community for its efficiency in handling large models and datasets.
